CW/TW: spoilers for Arcane Season 2, as well as unlife talk in the What section (this will be highlight-to-read)!
Who: Jinx & any sign-ups What: Canon update! Here's a brief rundown on her mental state to explain how she'd be returning:
Season 2 SpoilersAfter murdering Silco, Jinx does not handle it. Bonds are stupid, dangerous, and she doesn't care anymore... or so she tries to convince herself. While she still shows signs of giving just enough fucks to keep, say, a tiny kid alive, and she does one (1) whole nice thing for someone she used to fight a lot with, (highlight-to-read:) she literally tries to get her sister to murder her. As in... bloody brawl to the almost-death, and then outright saying "it had to be you" re: herself being killed. In other words, Jinx is determined to be the wrecking ball to her own life. Also her finger is shot off! And I just realized that will be hurting even more, thanks to the off switch of Shimmer. Her reasons for this will be she is SUPER angry at the Admiral for dragging her back here, after all of That, and she's determined to show she's clearly irredeemable! She will attempt to set fire to the hallway of her cabin, using her somewhat limited knowledge of how chemicals work, but fires aren't the biggest threat to our cast, and it should take very little time to put out! She'll attempt to stab anyone who shows up for that part, though... while her hand is in very obvious need of attention! Where: Hallway between her cabin and the Infirmary! When: September 27th, roughly an hour after Breach ends. Outcome: Someone will be stabbed, a fire will be started (and ended before serious damage to anything), and there will be a lot of hurt feelings/bruised Jinx ego. Nothing too severe or lasting, but enough of a chaotic mess that there's room for anyone to be caught in the crossfire.

Blood Info ~ CW: talk of drugs, addiction, animal and human experimentation, death
original form was created from glowing, purple flowers
second form was created from the DNA of a creature that was perpetually overdosed over an extended period of time
third form was a "tweaked" version of the above
fourth form was created with help of the DNA from former humans (Vander, Deckard)
Shimmer Effects & Abilities According to Canon:
when mixed with other drugs, herbs, etc. it can function as just a healing potion without addiction risk (though it does still fuck with the mind and body)
potent and corrosive techmaturgical, serum-like substance
the DNA of the glowing purple flowers reads similar to nightshade
Waverider (what I theorize Rio to at least mostly be) DNA reads somewhat similar to dragon DNA, for those who'd be able to recognize that
Deckard DNA will read the closest to a human's
Vander DNA will read similar to that of a werewolf
General Shimmer Headcanons:
withdrawal from it goes roughly the way withdrawal from methamphetamine does, IRL
its level of danger is largely due to the healing effects >>> one reason being that the body not breaking down means a major incentive (AKA a downside of heavily taking it) that most dangerous drugs have is nonexistent here
Shimmer reads as a strange mixture of plant, animal, and human substances blended together
under a microscope it resembles steroids and methamphetamine >>> there is, of course, significantly more plant, amphibian, and human DNA than you'd find in either of those
Jinx Shimmer Headcanons:
Jinx got secondhand exposure many times, in doses too small to result in addiction >>> it was perpetual enough to lead to such strength and speed not fitting her height/size >>> it's part of what led to her level of mental instability >>> it's part of why she is later able to become, essentially, Shimmer, itself
Jinx's complete breakdown is heavily aided by Sing's surgical infusion of Shimmer
Shimmer eventually leaves her system enough that she's able to regain her true personality >>> as a result, she loses some of her physical capabilities (e.g. less strength) by the end of Season 2
