Character's Full Name: She was born as Powder, but her chosen name is Jinx... for now? Character's Pronouns: She/Her Character's Canon: Arcane Character's Canon Point: After locking Vi in the prison cell. Character's Age: ~19-20 Did your character willingly come to Iyashikei? If yes, why? Yes. Part of her just wants to see if this place can teach her what happiness feels like. Will they need any special accommodations upon arrival? Maybe some shoes and a coat. She'd eventually put them on so she stops getting concerned stares.
Otherwise, there's the matter of Shimmer being thoroughly in her system. She may need some help with the physical degradation, on top of the psychological impact this carries. Maybe they point her towards the hospital?
1. Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them. How would your character act once someone got to know them?
Upon meeting Jinx, it depends entirely on the kind of day she's having. If it's a rare good day, they'll be meeting a particularly upbeat, manic, and unpredictable young woman. She's all about music, learning, exploring new places. Her dream of taking to the skies translates into someone who doesn't like being forced into some sort of routine. She needs room for improv!
More often than not, for a while, it will be the much less excitable Jinx. She's lost nearly everyone she's ever loved, and that grief and guilt weigh immensely on her. If talking via text, it'll be easiest for her to hide how empty her expressions lean. Regardless, there will be no smiles, only exhaustion... and a tendency to try scaring that person away via oversharing.
Once someone has gotten to know her, and they accept her? She'll do things like drape on/flop next to them. She'll give them genuine smiles, ramble at them about her latest invention or idea, talk to them about some of the few happier memories she has of back home.
2. What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
Aside from the glowing purple hair and Rapunzel-length blue hair, her "blood" is a case of: 'Whoops, All Shimmer!'
Shimmer is this horribly addictive substance that sort of turns people into monstrous beings, when given in very high doses. They'll have ridiculous strength, speed, agility, and sometimes more. In Jinx's case, it was surgically and magically infused within her, while she was on the brink of death. For her, the psychological effects were immense, and they still linger, even a year and some change later.
Currently, that means she is prone to hyperfixating on someone else, and there's this obsessive need to be useful, somehow. Whether this takes the form of having someone to protect, or it drives her to happily work for the shadiest folks in this place... she'd be "happy" either way. "Happy" and very, very prone to violence in the name of protecting whoever's (un)lucky enough to have become Her Person.
3. What does your character think their flaws are? What do they think their strengths are? What are their actual flaws and strengths?
She would answer this question with: my very existence is a flaw; I bring terrible luck to everyone who gets close. And her strength is... maybe her invention skills.
Her actual flaw is in her co-dependency, and how that co-dependency is translated into her thoughts and actions. For starters, she weighs her value against how useful she is to her select few People. She forgives Her People doing terrible things to other less important people. It's also somewhat easy for anyone she grows to trust to manipulate her. It is possible to mold her into a "useful weapon", so to speak, if a person is skilled enough as a manipulator.
Jinx's strength is in her heart - not the literal kind. But, when she feels driven to do something, she pours all she has into achieving the goal, protecting the person, helping the person, etc. She feels emotions with an overwhelming intensity, right now, but with the right therapy and possibly some medications? It should be able to balance into something healthier.
4. What is a common misconception other characters have about your character?
She's viewed as literally monstrous by most people in Piltover. A villain that will forever strike fear into the hearts of the innocents, and all that. Jinx did nothing to help that view! In fact, she encouraged it by wearing the most unhinged expressions as she blew people away with guns and bombs. She latched onto that part of herself that viewed spilling blood as exciting. Because she was helping her father figure, Silco, by keeping all the "bad guys" from reaching him or interfering with his drug business.
Nowadays, she doesn't want to kill, and she feels more apathy towards violence. And, fortunately, even when getting help with said situational apathy, her days of chaotic, unnecessary violence have come to an end. Part of her is seeking a new purpose, while the other part struggles against the desire to simply give up. Making friends and potential found family will help with rebalancing herself, and then forging a new reputation.
STRENGTH: Superhuman. She could punch through concrete, dent steel, etc. Later in the series, it's demonstrated that she is able to match her sister (Vi) in a fight, giving punches that are scarily close to Vi's level. DURABILITY: Superhuman. She can continue fighting while receiving powerful punches, cuts, stabs, burns, etc. AGILITY: Superhuman. She was dodging attacks faster than the blink of an eye even before Singed's surgery. After the surgery, she's shown moving short distances faster than anyone's eye can keep up with, making her capable of dodging even bullets with ease. HEIGHTENED HEALING: Even when the injury could be labeled fatal, her recovery speed leaves room for her to essentially bounce back within a day or two.
